I have been talking to people on sets for the last couple of years about the changes in technology. I found it hard to believe that so many people who work in the entertainment industry where so uniformed about the state of technology.
All The Majors have deals now with Apple, Microsoft and Netflix for direct delivery of content via the internet. These deals have been many months in the making - defiantly before the strike.

Things are not going as smoothly as many thought they would between the Directors Guild and the AMPTP. Many thought that the DGA would waltz in and strike a deal - n questions asked. I have been telling people that that is what the AMPTP thought would happen. But I also told them, I think the AMPTP is in for a surmise.

The Weinstein Co. said today it is close to reaching a deal with the WGA. Company officials said they expected the interim agreement to be signed by the end of the today, Thursday.
If the deal is finalized, it would mark the second independent studio deal the WGA has reached thus far during the strike. Monday, the WGA made a separate agreement with United Artists. Continue

The holiday weekend is coming to an end and the negotiations are about to begin, but the need for solidarity and to continue on with the show of strength is still important. The Picket lines will continue, even as negotiations are underway. The support that the WGA has received from fans and other unions has not gone unnoticed.

Labor strife seems to be the order of the day. OF course there is the WGA Strike against the AMPTP, the IATSE Local 1 Strike against the Broadway producers and now CBS News writers have voted with an overwhelming 81% to authorize their negotiating committee to call a strike at anytime.
About 500 CBS News television and radio writers -- who work in New York, Los Angeles, Washington and Chicago -- have been working under an expired contract since April of 2005
